February 20, 2019

Today, The Learning Center, “announces” Nevada’s 1st Cyber High School Scholarship Program in IT and Cybersecurity.  The “CyberHS” apprenticeship pilot program will serve to attract, recruit and train high-school seniors in IT and Cybersecurity career pathways to enter the workforce in work role of Computer Support Specialist.  The Learning Center is Program Sponsor to Nevada’s 1st and ONLY approved Registered Apprenticeship in IT and Cybersecurity.

“The Cybersecurity High School Scholarship Program supports career pathways for our youth in the high-demand area of Information Technology and Cybersecurity,” said Linda Montgomery, President of The Learning Center. “This exciting program will launch a graduating high school students’ education to prepare them for bright futures in an IT and Cybersecurity profession.  Additionally, this scholarship will serve our employers by developing a talent pipeline to assist them in filling the 1,900+ open technology and cybersecurity jobs in Nevada with qualified talent” Montgomery adds.

This Educational Scholarship Program is available to high school seniors who have an interest and ability in the technology field who wish to begin a lifelong career in IT and Cybersecurity.  “The Learning Center is so proud to fund this scholarship initiative to connect our youth - creating on-ramps for secure and successful IT careers” said Linda Montgomery.  Montgomery continues “I’ve had a 34-year career in this field, and I see this as an opportunity to “Pay It Forward” in support of our youth.  Through the apprenticeship model, this program will champion our youth to lifelong careers in IT and Cybersecurity.  TLC continues a history of making a difference every day—towards a safer, healthier, and more secure community, state, nation and world.”
