The BLS also states that the average income for computer and information technology occupations was $82,860, which is higher than the median annual wage for all occupations.   Global demand is expected to rise to 6 million by 2020 – and 1.5 million of those will remain unfilled due to a lack of qualified candidates. According to ISACA, 83% of 2017 cybersecurity job postings require at least one certification. Experienced IT workers looking to specialize in cybersecurity roles are also needed; on average, cybersecurity professionals receive a 9% salary premium compared to other IT workers.
